BPA free or not?

October 5 2015

Q: How do I tell if a plastic bottle is BPA free?

A: All of our PET bottles are BPA free. BPA is one of the building blocks of another type of plastic called polycarbonate. This kind of plastic is generally used for rigid reusable containers.

If you look under a bottle, recycling symbol “1” denotes PET plastic and you can rest assured that it is BPA free. If the recycling symbol has a “7” in it, then it might be a polycarbonate container with BPA in it. However, recycling symbol “7” is also used for other plastics and bio-resins that do not contain BPA.
